Tips on Watering Indoor Plants

houseplantWhere possible soft water or rain water should be used; this is particularly important in hard water areas for lime-hating plants like Azalea indica. Where it is impossible to provide a water butt for collecting rain water, hard tap water can he easily softened by immersing a sack of peat in a tub of water. It is, of course, important that porous sacking should be used and not a bag made of polythene.
Excessive watering will result in a very sluggish root system which will become inactive in time and result in roots rotting off; the consequence of this is eventual loss of leaves, for which all sorts of other possible causes are blamed.
