This beautiful and very floriferous Polvantha rose should he much more widely known and grown outside its native Australia. Its loosely cupped, semi-double flowers open from neat little buds and come in long, wellspaced clusters of 10-30. Tile flowers have short petals, with a heart-shaped outline. They open rich mid-pink, with a white centre and occasional white flecks, and fade to mother-of-pearl and near-white. They are much paler on the reverses, with even an occasional greenish tinge. The plant sheds its old flowers slowl y. The new growth is dark red, giving way to reddish stems and good, dark green, glossy Wichurana foliage. The plant has a few prickles and occasionally suffers from mildew, but it is very pretty, especially when well grown. It is not unlike (but superior to) some of the better-known Poulsen Polyanthas of the same period. Australia Felix was the name given to the early settlements in Victoria.
