Acidanthera

bicolor 18″ Zone 10 Dark-eye Gladixia

Native to tropical Afri., growing from corns, and treated like Gladiolus, that is, the corms are raised, dried immediately and stored in the fall for over winter. Leaves are similar to those of Gladiolus but better ornamentally. The spikes of 3-6 white, fragrant flowers with black centers appear in the summer and also resemble those of Gladiolus. Propagation is easy, simply by collecting all the young cormels that form around the old one at the end of the growing season.
